About hireHelper

This software is designed to give you an opportunity to demonstrate your problem solving and decision making skills while recruiting a sales representative. We are using a case that will not require thorough knowledge of any particular processes, industries or management theories and our case has no specific right or wrong answers. While this case study does not have a single correct solution, you are expected to justify your answers in a rational and logical fashion. Your analysis and thinking is more important than coming up with an actual solution.

The Case

A small screen printing company is being bought by an advertising and sign company. Both entities have been in need of expanding the sales force and this merger has brought the issue to a critical stage. The new owners (two brothers in partnership), know that a new sales rep needs to be brought on soon in order to capture the momentum of the merger and grow the revenue of the new company. The company operates in a mid-sized metropolitan market but has always experienced cash flow fluctuations. The expenditures for the acquisition have nearly tapped the reserves dry. The brothers have generally handled sales themselves in their previous company - as did the former owners of the screen printing business. The need for expansion has caused considerable anxiety as the brothers are unsure as to how the new rep will be paid while they are learning the market and growing their client base. They do realize that they cannot grow without taking this step.

The Challenge

How should they proceed through the recruitment and selection process in order to find the best candidate for their situation?
